An APN (Access Point Name) is the setting your Telkom LTE router uses to connect to the internet.
Your router should already have the correct APN settings. However, if you've been asked to check or update your APN, follow the steps below.
Mweb Telkom LTE APN settings
Use the following settings:
- APN: mweb
- Username: Leave blank
- Password: Leave blank
- Authentication: None or Auto
How to change your APN
The exact steps may differ depending on your router make and model.
- Connect your computer, phone or tablet to your LTE router using WiFi or a network cable.
- Open a web browser.
- Enter your router's IP address in the address bar. This can usually be found on the label underneath or at the back of the router.
- Log in using your router's admin username and password.
- Look for Network, Mobile Network, Dial-up, Profile Management or APN Settings.
- Create a new profile or edit the existing APN profile.
- Enter mweb as the APN.
- Leave the username and password fields blank.
- Save the settings and make the new profile the default if prompted.
- Restart your router and allow a few minutes for it to reconnect.
Can't find your APN settings?
Router menus differ between manufacturers and models, so the APN option may be located elsewhere in your router settings.
Check the label on your router for the model number and login details. If you need help finding or changing the APN, contact Mweb Support.
Still can't connect?
If you've confirmed that the APN is correct but your Telkom LTE service still isn't connecting:
- Restart your router.
- Check that the SIM card is inserted correctly.
- Check that your router is receiving a Telkom mobile signal.
- You can factory reset your router if necessary. A factory reset will remove any settings you've changed, including your WiFi name, WiFi password and other customised settings. You'll need to set these up again afterwards.
- After a factory reset, check that the APN is set to mweb before testing your connection again.
- Contact Mweb Support if you're still unable to connect.
Important: Only change your APN if you've been instructed to do so or you've confirmed that your router is using the wrong APN.
